Hello! My name is Mr. Pavel Colon and I will be your child’s Math teacher this 20162017 school year. I have completed fifthteen years in this incredible career with two of those at Inwood Academy High School. I teach both 7th Garde Math. My education consists of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Education. I love teaching!
Personally, I am a husband and a father of two and grandfather of two. I was born and raised in Washington Heights and am so thrilled to be back “home.”
Because I am a product of this area, it is very important to me to be able to prepare my students for the demands and rigor of the 7th Grade Math. My goal is simple—to help my students be successful.
In order to do this, I have set high expectations and requirements for this class. For example, students are required to do work outside of class on a regular basis. It is important that I have your support. I am aware that I cannot do my job well without your help. Please read this course information packet and sign below indicating that you agree to become my partner in your child’s education.

Hello!
My name is Mrs. Diaz- Chea. This is my third-year teaching Mathematics at SBECA. This year, I look forward to teaching seventh graders. I discovered my passion for teaching Mathematics in my native country, Peru. While pursuing my bachelor degree in Engineering at La Universidad de Lima, I tutored my classmates. Shortly after that, I continued with my studies at The City University of New York (CUNY), where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Master of Science in Mathematics Education. Before joining the teaching staff at SBECA, I taught Mathematics at all levels at CUNY for 15 years as a tutor, facilitators and Adjunct Lecturer.
I am currently living in the Bronx with my husband and three children. I love to teach and help others achieve their dreams. While spending leisure time with my family, I enjoy visiting new places and going to the movie theater. My favorite movies are the Marvel Avengers series.
